The RAF,
pretty much being a no-hoper with nothing,
with no role models, no mentors,
no guidance,
And it took that person
Gave him confidence,
a different colour from most of the other
and offered him the chance to make
the best of any abilities that he had.
And that would apply pretty much
Many, many, many years ago.
And even today, you know, I still
look fondly on my contacts in the RAF.
I marched with the RAF at the Cenotaph,
In the last couple of months,
Once a month, I'm with RAFA,
So for me, the RAF became
It taught me how to socialise, how to live
It very much taught me
not in how to behave in terms of,
but in terms of how to behave
because I had no parents,
It taught me how to dress.
It taught me how to eat.
It taught me the meaning
It taught me how to make friends.
The RAF undoubtedly
I can't say much other than that.
And out of it has come
a flower that started with— you
of it because the flower is closed up.
But what the RAF did
and encourage what came out,
but making it better
And this thing that was, okay,
and then I became a sportsman,
and then they make me a pilot, and then
flying scientists all around the place,
and then I become a— A senator.
I mean, there is nothing in my life
I think that's— and I believe
If you don't have ability,
But if you have ability,
then the RAF will make the most of it.
If I'd failed at any stage, as I did fail
I get directed to— if I couldn't continue
something else.
You know, what else would
So, I mean, it's just— it
Fantastic.
