Loved it so much that at the end
again to become a captain,
And unusual at that time,
Because normally,
you would go and be a captain
But I think because
was one of 2 tactical squadrons,
that they actually wanted me back.
I think they really enjoyed having
I went back to 47 Squadron as a captain.
And again, enjoyed all those things all
only this time I'm a captain.
Coming up towards the end of that time,
looking at the Hercules
about having
to fly the SAS and all sorts of other
and so on and so forth.
And at the end of my tour,
one of the captains that they would choose
but much to my surprise,
go to the Royal Aircraft Establishment
to fly Hercules,
world, and alongside that, a Canberra.
So this is really rare in
aviation, either in the military or
turboprop aeroplane at the same time
bomber with ejection seats.
One has a crew of 5,
So I had to go and learn how to fly
and then fly both these aeroplanes
So there'd be a whole bunch of scientists
in the back, but there'd just be
And so I spent the next 3 years
Again, really exciting, pushing
Many, many interesting storeys
But it also brought me to
I had an option at that point of either
of my life, pretty much my working life,
And I decided that it was time for me to
you know, live in the outside world.
By then I had a, you know, a wife,
So although that was a huge decision,
I wasn't— I was not going
I was not going to get
I was not going to fly any other— I didn't
because I'd flown all
But I could start a career
And that proved to be a hugely,
